Please refer to the statement from Mendip District Council today on their website https://www.mendip.gov.uk/nortonstphilip which explains that the referendum which the District Council had organised for Thursday 17 October will not now take place following a decision in the High Court.
The Parish Council will be considering these recent developments and their implications.
A great deal of work has gone into the Neighbourhood Plan, involving considerable community engagement. We all need to build on that and continue to work together to find the best way forward for Norton St Philip.
Chairman, Norton St Philip Parish Council
The Parish Council has now received the report from its traffic consultant about how crossing the A366 in Church St by the school could be made safer. You can read the report by downloading the below pdf.
In considering this report, the PC will seek the views of the Headteacher of the school, the Manager of the pre-school, County Councillor Mrs Oliver, the Chair of the Traffic Action Group, Somerset CC Highways and the police. The PC will then seek to identify the best way forward. Meanwhile, the PC has earmarked £5000 towards the likely costs of implementing an approved scheme.
