We invite you to a
on Wednesday 30 October 2013 at 7:00pm in the Palairet Hall, Norton St Philip
In view of planning applications for an unprecedented number of houses in Norton St Philip during the current silence of Mendip’s Local Plan, this meeting is intended to provide information and let you have your say.
We have invited the three developers who between them have submitted applications for over 150 new houses in the village; two of them have said will attend, make presentations and answer questions from residents. The meeting will be chaired by Linda Oliver, Chair of the Parish Council (PC).
The applications known are for
- 8 market houses, 24 sheltered houses and warden’s accommodation on land south of Longmead Close, including part of Shepherds Mead (parish council has recommended refusal, Mendip still to consider). An earlier application for the 8 houses on their own is being appealed for non-determination/refusal by Mendip
- 20 houses on the ‘Laverton Triangle’ at the corner of Mackley Lane (parish council has recommended refusal, Mendip still to consider)
- Up to 49 houses on the land behind the sports pavilion between Fortescue Fields and Church Mead (application registered and due out for consultation at the end of October)
- 49 houses on the land behind Bell Hill Garage (application registered and due out for consultation at the end of October)
The parish council is obtaining professional advice on how to deal with these applications in a valid way. At this meeting it will be listening to the public’s views.
